A webhook is an HTTP callback: it lets the HUB2 API notify your system as soon as an event occurs. You subscribe to a list of events and provide the URL to call. Whenever one of these events occurs, the HUB2 API sends an HTTP POST request to that URL, with the event data in the request body.
Webhooks remove the need to poll the HUB2 API to know the current status of a transaction: the HUB2 API calls your URL with all the relevant data as soon as an update occurs.
The advantages of webhooks:
  • They replace polling. You no longer need to call the HUB2 API at regular intervals, which saves resources on both sides.
  • They are quick to configure.
  • You are notified as soon as an event occurs, without the delay inherent to polling.
